ABOUT

You deserve access to the doctor of the future.

“Twenty years as a cancer surgeon has taught me this above all.
The most powerful medicine flows from the heart, not the hands.”

I was a ‘yeah but…’ employee

A work obsessed, high performer with

  • astounding numbers! Yeah, but…

  • legendary hard skills. Yeah, but…

  • rock-star status when not drinking. Yeah, but…

It’s easiest to recognize underdeveloped soft skills and limited self-awareness in others. The challenge is to adopt disciplined self-care strategies which allow us to recognize it in ourselves.

It wasn’t enough to:

  • be the first physician in my family

  • complete a fellowship at MD Anderson and an MBA at U-Mass Amherst

  • perform the first GYN robotic procedures in the state of Florida

  • travel the world caring for patients and training physicians on five continents

I HAD TO RECOVER FROM AND DEAL WITH MY OWN TRAUMA SO THAT I WOULD NOT TRANSFER THAT TRAUMA ONTO MY PATIENTS.

It took losing a job to start me on that journey, eventually bringing me to the rooms of 12-step recovery. A decade later that journey continues and this work–helping individuals and organizations empower care providers at every level–is how I align my self-care program and my service to others.

Not too long ago, I sat in a meeting in Provincetown Massachusetts when I recognized the voice of my Higher Power whispering to me: “You are uniquely positioned to serve individuals and organizations because of your journey.”

That’s when I got busy, step by step, brick by brick, breath by breath, building the systems to support ‘yeah but’ employees and their organizations reimagine a way forward.

My Goal:

to help as many of you as possible to deal with difficult choices while maximizing the investment you’ve already made in your most valuable resource: human capital.

Abour Dr. Dwayne

I'm a cancer surgeon on a mission to teach a generation the power of meditation and self acceptance (as an act of service to self and others).

But I’m a long ways from the 3-bedroom trailer in rural South Carolina where I started. My journey–to GYN oncologist, partner in a Tulsa multi-specialty cancer practice and now author, speaker, coach and consultant–has been propelled by the entrepreneurial spirit and words of love of my grandfather (Daniel Lee).

He overcame historical and cultural odds and built a successful business from the ground up. He also preached love every day of his life, and it is this spirit that I bring to my mindset and self-care work

Twenty years as a cancer surgeon has taught me this above all: the most powerful medicine flows from the heart, not the hands." I want to use the lessons of my professional and personal journey to empower other care providers at every level.

I live and work in Tulsa Oklahoma with my husband Felix, a wedding florist, and our two fur babies, Duke and Oliver. My daughter is a PhD candidate and social justice warrior.

Let’s dig deep!
